Central Florida Beaches

Marc Riccio

New member
Hya Guys, first post on this forum. We are down in Central Florida. Just bought a Minelab Sovereign GT, tried it out at a small beach in Crystal river and in 20 minutes I have found a Bobby Pin, 3 nails, myriad bottle caps and a mineralized (Spelling?) pebble. My goal was to get some practice in, in the short time I had available.

Where would you suggest would be a good place to practice and maybe even find a nickel or two?

Thanks

M

Your front lawn or a park or beach or school or play ground or ball diamond or any where there is dirt or grass or sand. Just get out and put some hours on the machine. And if you are friends with your neighbour, detect on their lawn. HH

Good ideas, but we are in a Campground, and they might get upset if we start to dig up the joint. Is it OK to go to a park in Florida. I am a little wary of parks because of the many comments I have seen on where and what to avoid. I was thinking beach. Are there lake beaches or just Ocean and Gulf beaches.

Thanks

M

Welcome Marc

I have a Excal II and i love it, but tomorrow my new GT arrives. I cant wait all i can tell you is just take your time to learn the machine and don't get frustrated. With time you will realize that you have one of the best detectors there is..............Good Luck

Hey, Orange County has a lot of parks but they require a permit for each park. (90) They want to see some liability insurance LOL>. You may get approched and asked to stop. Seminole county is cool. Good luck.

Or just zip over to the East coast on a low and go get that tourist gold! It's there right now waiting under a few inches of sand.....I can almost smell it.

I used to live in Tampa- area have hunted both coast never been asked for any permit-hunt beaches staying sand/water-go at low tide hunt from a little over waist deep to the shore-also hit the towel line-go slow, use good headphones and DON'Tshow off your finds to nosy people-good luck

Can't help on a local place to hunt but it is very strange for you to dig boobies and nails with a sovereign unless your in all metal, put it in disc mode for now till you learn it a bit, you wont get any more nails and boobies but the good stuff will shine through, have a look in the Sov/excalibur section for the best settings and more info,

Marc, I live 30 minutes from Crystal River. What campground are you at and for how long. I know of a few places you can hunt not far from there. send me a private message and I'll let you know. HH

I have tried to PM you a couple of times and it is not going through. Send me an email at mumszie@tampabay.rr.com reguarding local beaches
