Change of scenery paid off this morning

Park Pirate and I took a break from our usual park this morning and headed uptown to another location. I finally dug some coins other than nickels. All the finds were tough targets masked by bottle caps, pull tabs and a lead fishing sinker. First find was a 1925 merc followed up by a nice 1875 indian head cent. The obverse is in great shape but the reverse has the thick green crud on it. Too bad !!! Next find was a 1911 Barber dime from a washed out area around the base of a tree. Was only 3-4 inches deep. Next find was the 1920-S merc which was in the hole with the lead fishinig sinker. It was shallow in the tree roots and I was lucky not to have gouged it the way I was chopping through the root to get to it. Lastly I had a double indian head cent hole 1893 and 1888. That was a solid indian head hit and the only "classic" signal of the day. Felt great to dig multiple silvers instead of the usual Buffalo and V nickels !!! Park Pirate had a rough morning but I have no doubt he'll rebound with some great coins this week.
