Charleston, South Carolina

Hello everyone. I'm going to Charleston, S.C. the first to weeks in June. I've never been there. I'm planning on doing some beach hunting while there. Any pointers on where to go. I may also hit a few parks in the area.

Thanks in advance for any input

Hey Tone! I will be in Charleston a couple of weeks before you to vacation at Isle of Palms. They have a good beach there but alot of it is private access. There is a state park at Folly's Island that you should be able to detect, but you might want to call them to be sure. I will be detecting alot down there when I am there looking for spanish cobs and modern coins and jewelry. Hope to find some gold! Tennesse Bob

Thanks Bob, Too bad we couldn't hook up. I'm always looking for a partner. Its my first time goin so I'm not too sure about where to go. I did read about the Isle of Palms & was planning on going there too.

Hey TONE, I will be staying on the Isle of Palms the week of Easter. I am bringing my Excal, Sovereign XS, and MXT. I don't plan on leaving much behind.

Well, good luck Mr007. I hope you leave some for me. I'll be there the the first 2 weeks in June. I'm goin' to check on staying on the Isle of Palms. It sounds like that is the place to be.

Thanks for the info.

Isle of Palms is where the rich folks vacation so it should be thick with gold and silver for us pirates to find. Half of the island where the money is is private access, thats what I will hit hard. Leave us some. I have a secret spot and the water will be warm enough to detect in May without a wetsuit. Taking my Excal 2. Went to a local beach here this morning. Weather was almost 70 and perfectly sunny, but I didnt find a thing except some trash. That place gets hit hard at the swimming area. Saw some other detectors there as well. Bob

Thanks for that info, Bob. I will check out that area when I get there in June. If the beaches are private excess, how do you get to them & is there a public beach on the Island?

If you stay out of Wild Dunes you can access the beach publically. Better get there early, there a few parking places on the road in. Just walk between the million dollar houses and your on the beach. Should be great this year. Last year I saw no one detecting in Wild Dunes were we are staying. Found a nice watch last year and some coins. Bob
