Chatter

I have noticed that when I set down the detector to dig, back of coil resting on the ground, often it will chatter constantly. Is there a way to prevent this?

You will get a little chatter. Just don't set your coil down close to big metal like your shovel. Also you may notice it chatters a little more when you have your pinpointer turned on. It's really not a problem. You'll get use to it.

I've found that if you're on the cusp of chatter anyway, setting your coil on the ground in this way will increase the chatter....often, I will set pinpoint on my way down to dig and this will (in most cases) eliminate the chatter. I've read where some folks keep their coil loose enough that their coil lays flat on the ground when they set their coil down. Good luck!

I see in you other post you are pushing the sensitivity to 99. That is probably why it chatters so much. Lower it to 90 and see what happens.

are you using a pinpointer? Is your sens to high? Did you try another coil? Did you try another program?

Hey LB

When I set the detector down to dig the plug, before I turn on the propointer it starts chattering. I have noticed the interference from the pointer as well, but the chatter from setting it down is usually a constant cacophony in my headphones. If I reach over and touch the detector, it shuts up until i let go. I do not have another coil to try, just the 11". It was only recently that I tried running 99 sens, now I am going to lower it to 93 as suggested, before I would use 90 sens and it would do the same thing.
