Just getting into this hobby and bought the simplex and all the implements to take on a vacation to Florida beaches and after 2 hours of use the check coil icon comes on and my detecting vacation is over...anyone else ever have this issue...metaldetector.com says they will fix it but that is literally why I took this vacation..
 
Have seen that before, hopefully this will help.

It happened one time. Unable to do anything with buttons. Unscrewed coil connector nut and wiggled connector but did not remove it. Screwed connector nut back on. It would not turn off. Had to leave it on overnight until battery was fully discharged. Next morning recharged Simplex and it work as normal. Never saw problem again.
