Was out detecting with my friend and mentor TonyAz today in my new favorite lot in the whole world.....I had the Deus just fired up and got a bad tone and good one mixed, VDI said 51, dug about 6" down found a rusty nut, put it in my bag (Taught and practice carry it out!), rescan the hole and I get only good tone , and find a coin covered in dry dirt, look at it and see the Mexican eagle it seems on one side and what looks like a face on other, BAM got me a peso with 18xx date......I go to show Tony while blowing off some dirt and then see a shield on an eagle, bigger BAM it ain't no peso, it's a dang shield nickle, which is cool cause I never had one of those, I hand it to Tony and declare my shield nickle find.....Well Tony looks at it, then me then tells me how dang stupid I am and blind as a bat! (not really, he said that is no nickle it looks like a gold coin, but to my ears I heard the former...LOL),

WHAT????

Sure as heck, look what me Deus found me today, a find of a lifetime!! I have not cleaned (nor will I) and it turns out to be a key date!
 
By the way...THANK YOU CZ!!! your modified 4Khz prog found yet another great one for me....

ARRRGGHHH Matey! What a fantastic find! You said it IDed as "51" in 4 Khz...I'm curious as to how it air tests without the iron mixed in...been thinking of buying or borrowing a gold $5 piece and running a bunch of air tests since gold is a "low" conductor to see if different frequencies at the same settings affect depth. I'm sure it will though...

If I ever found something like that Id never post it probably because of the heart attack at the digsite!!! You should go back and look for more pesos LOL!
 
It rang up at 50 in the air, 51 buried.

I was going back this morning but sadly over slept like an idiot....Here in AZ it gets hot early so we detect as the sun starts to rise (5:20 ish) and by 7 am it is HOT!. Yesterday I got off work at 4am, grabbed my gear ate food and headed to my detecting town, which is 30 mins or so away....
Anyway, after finding the half eagle I was to jazzed to go to sleep, stayed up longer than I needed and could not wake up this morning.....That and working nights kills a body trying to wake at 4am.

LOL I know there could be more gold and sure as heck want to find them, now if I could just get my body to cooperate like it did when i was yound and never slept.....
