The Courliss Economic Recovery Plan


Hi Gang,

I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a 'We Deserve It Dividend'.

To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bon-a-fide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a 'We Deserve It Dividend'.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free. So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes. That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket. A husband and wife has $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?
Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads
Put away money for college - it'll be there
Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car - create jobs
Invest in the market - capital drives growth
Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves
Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( "vote buy" ) economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President.

If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG - liquidate it.
Sell off its parts.
Let American General go back to being American General.
Sell off the real estate.
Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.

Sure it's a crazy idea that can "never work."

But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion 'We Deserve It Dividend' more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC .

And remember, The Courliss plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.

is there would be a sudden rise in the cost of eveything. The government would have to freeze prices at current rates otherwise the greedy would raise the cost of a loaf of bread to $3,000.00, milk to $6,000.00, etc.

Ever notice how when minimum wage goes up so does the cost of living? Ever notice when unions get a raise in pay for their people, the cost of living goes up? Anytime there is more money the cost of living goes up. This would raise the cost of living beyone belief.

The government would have to force a freeze in the cost of living otherwise it would not work. But I sure could use that kind of money more than those companies they want to bail out.

If it could only be the way Bill and Pete have posted,. Oh, how America would thrive and be the nation it is supposed to be and also by honoring Jehovah God as our one and only God, how much more peaceful and plentiful we would be.....but it won't happen as that would make the peons (us meer citizens and working people) on an equal to those governing us and the Big Shots wouldn't like that at all! They know how to fix the whole world, they think, but all they do is make a Bigger Mess of the economy!

I approve of the bailout, for if it doesn't happen, America will suffer a greater depression than when the Great Depression occurred! More people would lose their homes, including me, with very little money including more job losses to buy food and other needs and then my brothers and sisters we would be crying out to God in Jesus' name for sure, as most of us would need Him to supply our needs for sure! Do you think that is what is happening, so we will call upon His name in earnest prayer and ask His forgiveness and to heal our land (the USA) and the whole world ?? There is to be a great revival before the end of this age as we know it!

Well, I could use some and I prayed and asked God to meet my needs which would get me out of debt by sending a buyer to my door to purchase my house, whith enough money to do it. Right now, the credit has been tightened until it will be more difficult for those needing financed to get the money! Had I waited until now to get refinanced, I doubt very much if I could have rec it....soooo everything has been done in God's timing! Praise God, Holy Spirit and Thank You, Jesus!

Sherry had a point today. She said that when we pray for something to happen God honors our request but something to keep in mind sometimes to get things to happen for a Godly end it may take bringing the worst of things to happen so that God can make things right.

An example might be asking God to help a husband become a better 'man of God'. God knows what is in the busband's heart and it may not be as good as maybe the husband pretends it to be. For God to honor the prayer He has to bring the husband to his knees...He cannot break the chains of sin as long as the husband wants to continue in sin. The husband may soon find that his 'hidden' sin gets to a point where it cannot be hidden. The horribleness of the sin becomes worse and worse and can no longer be hidden. Not until the husband is at the end of his rope, no where to turn that he finally cries out to God to help him. Only then when he is a broken man can God's grace set him free. Only from that point can God now work on making the husband a
better man of God' as the wife had been praying to happen.

This nation, like the husband buried in his sin, will have to come to its knees, cry out to God, ask for forgiveness and repent (the revival of a nation will take place) otherwise God will let the nation continue in its sin and let it destroy itself.

I think God is trying to answer our prayers to save this nation, save the people, to turn things around, make things the way they should be (God's way). He can only do that once the nation is brought down and it cries out to God for deliverance from the sins of its people. Things will have to get worse before they can get better...because...man will fight every inch of his flesh against God because they love their sin and hate the God that loves them.

God have mercy on all those who suffer because of the sins of this nation.

Yes, Sherry is correct, Pete, in what you have posted! For example....my sister-in-law, Wanda, told me about a woman who had prayed for her husband for 20 years before he got saved and then he died not long afterwards! But being saved, now she will see him again but not as her husband. And often when we pray for someone's salvation, they will get meaner and worse before they get better and therefore we have to stand firm in our faith that God is working it all out for their and our good and for His purpose! He never forces anyone to accept Jesus as Savior, our salvation is a free gift, but we mush accept His gift for ourselves. I do pray for Him to help my children and grandchildren to draw near to Him and then He will draw nearer to them. Sometimes He has to put many trials on us, for us to truly reach out and cry out to Him for mercy and for Him to show us that He is really real! Like Sherry said, We have to be broken and then when our hearts are softened He enters in at our request!

Our nation is like that with too many living in sin or just not living like they should and, therefore, God will do something to get our attention and turn to Him, which will take a great revival, but in the mean time we, His Children, will do some suffering too, but Jesus will be with us in the fire and take us through it by trusting and leaning on Him!

Praise God and Thank You, Jesus, for Your long suffering giving us time to know about You and come to repentance to not perish in our unforgiven sins! Amen!

that's why it will never happen.

The ones who complain people are not paying their credit card payments would lose more money if they had the loans paid off in full....no 20% interest to collect if paid off in full. So even though they get their money back they would complain about the loss of all that interest money.

Sure would be nice to really "owe no man anything but to love him"
