Chest Mounting Excal II

Gerry

New member
Guys & Gals,
Are any of you Excal types chest mounting you Excal's. I am about to head South soon and would like to know if there is a simple way to make a pouch or if there is a ready made one on the market. When I hunt I average about 4 hours a day on the beach but would like to get up to six hours a day and feel if I chest mounted my machine I might be able to do it.

Look for pictures of Max w/ his chest mount. I believe he found the equipment at an Army Navy store. His rig is about as good as it is going to get when it comes to chest mounting the Excal.

when i bought my new Excalibur they told me in the shop to use a pair of mens braces fixed to a belt,so when my friends husband walked in wearing braces he lost them to me. They are the clip on type,i fasten two clips directly in the middle of my belt at the back,at the front i clip one to the left front, now the one on the right i wind around the left front once to stop it slipping off my shoulder then i wrap it around my excalibur then clip it back onto itself. This raises it from the ground and takes the weight, this is my poor mans version of the "swingy thingy".I am 68 years old and detect in this manner for hours the Excalibur would beway too heavy for me otherwise.

If you don't already have a straight shaft try that first as it balances out the detector and seems weighless, the electronics behind the elbow counteract the coil weight and feels lighter than a hip mount for me.
