Chest mounting Excal?

Ray Hogan

Member
Does anybody chest-mount their excal? I've tended to chest-mount control boxes from other detectors I've used and was wondering if anyone had a good way to do this with the excal...thanks, Ray Hogan in Waco, TX.

i took a dive belt and sewed some shoulder straps on mine, added quick snaps for excal

a hunting buddy of mine just made a new one, let me see if i can find the pics

yep i back mount mine.

Looks nice Bling, but do you secure the cable to the harness somehow? On all my hip mounts I have always stressed securing the coil cable just in case you drop your rod. You don't want a short in the connection! I use a cable tie formed into a loop and tape it to the coil cable and then attach a snap ring into the belt for the loop to hook into. That way, if I drop my rod, the stress is on the belt and not the connection. With the rear mounted straight rods that are available, they may be prove to be a safer option. I'll try to load a pic of the loop & snap ring configuration on my GT belt.

Hey max the you have a pic. of the belt loop the you use to put your sand scoop by your sided

i carry/drag my scoop.in or out of water, just dog snap it to your belt.it leavs a good drag trail so you can see where you have hunted makes it easy to lay out a grid.i also poke the handle full of foam rubber so it floats up if i drop it.

due to the influx of the alum. scoops and the gray nasty stuff they rub off on your hands and shorts

made from pickel barrells or zep chemical barrell..................works good

u could just use the harness rig alone and add excal. to it on your chest, u can see the diver flags, something he bought at a dive shop.
