Christmas gift exchange time. Who's in?

Mick in Dubbo

New member
Those that are interested in being involved in the Christmas gift exchange, would you please post under here and send me a private message tittled "gift exchange", with your full name and postal address. Please be precise, as not all participants will be in the States, so the manner in which an address is made is slightly different for different countries. Display your name and address as if it was on an envelope.
The closing time will be in 8 days from now, after which time, I will put everybodys name into a hat and I'll get my wife to draw them out. Please don't put it off till the last minute as once the names are drawn out and posted, it'll be too late. I'll announce that the gift exchange is closed and shortly after that, I'll private message to those of you who will be sending your gift too. The name that you will be given, will not be the name of the person that you will be receiving the gift from. That's going to be part of the surprise.
As this is meant to be a gesture of good will, it's not intended that you spend ridiculous amounts of money on the gift. A ball park of US$20 is a good idea, otherwise there could be some embarrassing moments.
Good luck and happy shopping
Mick Evans.
The only real rule that I would make, is try to keep it under US$20!!!!

Steve ran this last year and I got selected to send him a gift and his brother was selected to send me something. Rosco (John) sent me a fab gift that I use practically every day! My only additional suggestion is that we pick a time or date to open the gifts and then share what we received with the rest of the participants. If memory serves last year we opened about a week before Christmas.

For me since I don't have Christmas at my house (living alone you don't need one) I waited until the eve of the event. I plan on doing the same this year. What others do is up to them but we can all share what we got on Christmas day or the day after. What ever works for the masses.........

There were all sorts of things exchanged last year. Detecting stuff, coins, knives. A slew of interesting and thoughtful gifts.

That's up to you. I try and get something to do with detecting or related to it in some way. It can help to go over the posts of the person that you are getting the gift for. I did that a couple of years ago on the other forum and it was a huge hit with the receiver. if you see something in their posts that gives you an inkling to other interests, then it puts you at a better position to buy something they will like. But the whole idea is to share a bit of good will amount fellow members, not to buy the perfect present. Who knows; after reading this post, some of the participants, may start to drop big hints in their posts over the next couple of weeks.:poke::lol:
Cheers.
Mick Evans.

I asked to get this thread pinned to the top of the page. No joy there, so I'll put in a post like this to keep it on the front page till the end of the week.
