we had church and it was great. Before church I blew out both my driveway and the neighbor's driveway. We had about 8 inches of snow at that time. What we gonna do with you guys who don't know how to handle snow
We had a fantastic church meeting today with the youth putting on a play and they even included me in it.
They did the usual manger scene, the wise men and they even had a Santa Claus. The premise was a little girl was 'looking for Christmas' and the narrator of the story (Casey) told her she just missed it but wait...
They brought out a tree devoid of ornaments and lights and the kids, this little girl and Casey did some decorating. Then each of the other kids brought her things like an ornament, a small gift, tinsel, and so on then Casey said did you find 'Christmas' yet? The girl replies there was still something missing...my cue to come out as Santa and sat down, gave out presents to each of them. Casey said 'Did you find Christmas yet?' and the little girl said "No but wait...I know". Her and Casey went over to the manger scene and picked up the baby Jesus and brought the baby to me. As I held the baby Jesus, the little children all bowed down on their knees and the little girl said "Now that's Christmas".
Long story short in case you missed it. Christmas might have been all those other things including Santa but it wasn't Christmas with the best present of all - Jesus.
The young children all did very well with thier parts. One thing they probably didn't think about....the sheperds were dressed with the head covering we have seen in tv movies and they had heavy limbs they used for staffs and walking sticks. One had a star on a long stick. Now never give little boys the idea that they are dressed up like Ninja warriors and these are their weapons

Thought they would never stop 'battling evil forces'

and get back to being the characters in a play. Imagination - a wonderful gift.
I'll ask Sherry later to post some pics she took today.
Then afterwards, we had a pot luck dinner.
And just think....you downstaters stayed home and played hookey from church.
Mike, I sure think that this year you will make up for the lack of snow and income we had last year. Who would have thought snow could be a blessing from God...well, besides us
