Civil War button collectors?

I found this button this morning next to an old river that was left after The Great Raft was cleared from the Red River. I actually wasn't seeking artifacts but was expecting coins. I believe it is from a Union uniform because I saw a couple on a site from Massachusetts uniforms. It is the size of a dime but thicker. The reverse side is flat and smooth. It reads "Kendrick & Co. Superfine". Anyone familiar with it?

hi brocantes. according to my book of button backmarks kendrick & co. operated in the ca. 1830's in waterbury, ct. it looks to be a common shankless flat button you found. still a good find, and a real good sign. hh!
