I was hunting one of my usual trash laden SC low country stomping grounds yesterday with my Vaquero--equipped with a sniper coil and came across these two items. The first is a Whatzit????? that is made of cast iron about 3 inches high with the same diameter. The second--a nice brass buckle--probably a womans.
The area I hunt consists of public and private property in the path of Sherman's Army when they marched from Savannah to Charleston. I always come home with something--musket balls/shot, hand forged hardware and general all around who know's what.
I'm thinking that my Whatzit could be related to some type of street lamp device--oil or gas. Anyway, I would love to hear your thoughts.
