Hello: I've had it since 2004 and it's still working great. Was wondering if anyone is still using it and if not, what did they replace it with. As always, thanks.

Good morning Sir,
I have a Modified Mr. Bills IDX Pro. Great machine. Only use it very seldom as I have other detectors but don't get out like I used to. Years ago a member in our Club found a Gold coin with his Classic Idx. I was amazed because I was brand new and thought this machine was Outdated. Boy was I wrong. Whites made some great detectors back then. Couldn't believe when Whites went BELLY UP though. Whites had some of the Best engineers building their Detectors early on. One of the Great things with Whites detectors was they "WERE MADE IN AMERICA" !!! LOST ART... Good luck in all your adventures...

Not a big deal, but Whites did not go "belly up". Ken White just got old, and didn't have anybody to leave his business to. And apparently, he couldn't work a deal with his employees to take over the company. That's a long ways from going "belly up".

The classic sl IDX was replaced by the IDX Pro. It was very powerful, even without modifications.
Is there a particular reason why you're asking?

vito First of all, thanks for your reply. The reason I was asking is that, now being in my eighties and having used the machine for over 20 years, I felt that it is time to retire it and move on to something more modern. I'm a beach guy and was thinking maybe something waterproof BUT am budget conscious. Will see! Again, thanks.
