classic T2

Albert

Well-known member
Just received a new classic T2. Question: Is the handle suppose to flex so much that it starts to sounds like the old timbers on a ship as it gets tossed around by the waves? When I start swinging the T2 with the stock 11 inch coil , the handle starts groaning or sqeeking or whatever. Also seems like the volume is kind of low, even thou the knob is turned all the way. Even my Deus sounds off louder on the targets than this T2. Maybe I need to send it back. Any suggestions on who to speak to over at first texas? Thanks. Albert

Never had any problems with my original T2 either and mine is a fair few years old and still going strong, the sound problem that you are experiancing they are not because the fact the you have the heaphones on say mono rather than stereo if that makes sense, sometime you have to reverse the lead so that they work or most headphones these days have a flip switch that you can change over and it may have got knocked,of course just a suggestion.

Keep us updated on how it turns out.

Yeah never had this issue before either. Just annoying when you're swinging the detector back and forth and the handle starts squawking.

Albert, please call the factory 915 633-8354 and ask for Teknetics customer service. I'm not sure who that is these days. And please tell whoever it is, that Dave Johnson has already emailed the key people in QC, manufacturing, and mechanical design depts. a link to this thread referring to the handgrip issue.

Regarding the loudness issue, I can't tell from your post whether or not there's actually a defect there. But if you send it in for warranty repair for the handgrip, make sure you also ask them to check out the audio volume to see if it's as loud as a T2 should be.

I have a fisher f75 that sounded like cracking and I tighten up the handle screws and noise went away. It was something so small like that , that I thought it was a piece if junk. Check and try that before sending it in. GS

Hi Dave, called the 1 800 number before I saw your post and talked to Juan. He said he was going to e-mail me a RA # to return detector but have not received anything yet. I will call the number that you listed and tell them that you have already let them know about the handle. Thank you very much Dave! I really appreciate it you replying so quick. Albert

Well I shipped off the T2 to First Texas. I guess we'll see what happens when it comes back. Thanks again.

They are nice folks over there in El Paso. They have good jobs at a decent pay making products in the USA - and – when I was fortunate enough to visit the factory earlier this year I was impressed by the fact that they all spoke so highly of their CEO – Tom. It seemed to me like a happy place I've been in a lot of factories – this one seemed happier than most.

I'm sure they'll take care of you .

Could be the headphones depending upon the ohm ratings of them.
