HI All,
I am building a PI detector, and was wondering what cable (name brand, part #, shielded, etc ?) does everybody use from the coil to the actual metal detector? As well does anybody have a heads up on waterproof connectors from the coil (plastic connector) to the metal detector (plastic or SS?)
Thankyou,
Tippy

Hi Tippy,
I've had much trouble locating small lengths of cable for my coils, solely because most places in New Zealand require that you to purchase the whole roll.
If you're building a mono coil, it becomes much simpler, the main requirements are low capacitance, 90pF or less per metre, an effective screen, and durable solid construction. As for part numbers, it will depend upon what outlets you have access to. Eric would likely say that an RG58 co-axial made by a reputable manufacturer would likely do the trick if you
