Coil 8" Minelab o SEF 8"X6"

Well I have'nt used either one myself.I think they are both good coils.Alot of guys are reporting that the 6x8 s.e.f is a really good coil.I read alot about the s.e.f but dont hear alot of mention of the 8 inch. That kinda tells me that the 6x8 is the better of the 2 .Im sure someone here has used both so they can give you an opinion based on experence.Good luck,HH

I have both of them and can't tell a whole lot of difference in the two. The SEF 6x8 may have a little better target separation but I can't say for sure. I always had very good luck with the Minelab 8in on my Explorers. .

Thanks Phil, you may have just saved me a lot of money, I have the FBS800, i think its a great coil, but i've been hearing really good things about the small SEF, and the grass always seems greener, so i was going to get one, looks like i don't need to now.
Cheers

to the Joey, 4x7, and the 6" Excelerator, Sunray 8, 5" Excelerator and my partner has the 6X8 so we compare signals and I say they are even. I sold off the others and stayed with the Minelab 7.5. I rarely use the small coil because the Pro coil is great in trash.

I own the FBS 800 coil for my E-trac and it does a great job.Seems a bit better to me in heavy trash than the stock 11'' as it sends a more concentrated series of signals.Depth seems very good as well.

I don't own the 8" Minelab, but I do have the 11" Stock, 6x8", and 6" SEF. I Tested the 11" stock and 6x8" in heavy iron/trash yesterday. The auto sensitivity was around 12-15 and the ground was really hard with most targets 5" or less. I started the first section with the 11" inch, then switched over to the 6x8" in an adjacent section. There were multiple trash targets under the 11" coil at the same time, which made them more difficult to discern. I felt I got better separation with the 6x8" and I didn't feel like I had to take too many extra swings to cover the same ground. The 6" is great for narrow bridal paths or around trees, but just too small for open fields, even when there's a lot of trash and/or iron.

the 6x8 coil works great at separation, but does lose a little depth from the stock pro coil as expected but it is a very stable coil, hh ,tony
