hello every one. i have read this forum for a few years and enjoyed it very much. i have an early 9 in coil that needs a battery, i have ordered one from a guy on eBay and watched the only video i can find about it, it is on you tube. does any one know what the stuff in the syringe is, if it is rtv silicone the old battery did not have it because the video does not show that it was removed. it does not seem to be that big of a deal to do but for the syringe part. any help????

Good luck I just purchase a older XP Deus and when I got it the battery in the coil would not hold a charge. So I called XP and they told me they don't charge labor to replace batteries. The detector was 5 years old and in mint condition. So I sent all three units in to have the batteries replace. The cost $150 but now I know I will have a detector that will last for five more years at least They are also going to check it out. And down low V4 at no charge. I have ordered the new pin pointer and the HF coil.

Isn't Deus the greatest? Lots of people complained about how long it took, but I am thankful they gave us all of this new technology for free. Most companies would have charged us for a new machine. I took the leap to Deus nearly 6 years ago and luckily my "old faithful" is still charging, holding and finding. Nice to hear how reasonable the battery replacement was. Thanks for sharing that Jim.

I replaced mine last year and I used a Black Super Weatherstrip Adhesive made by 3M that I purchased at Pepboys. I used this because it is waterproof , fast drying, exceptional bond strength. Works well because it seals well and the coil cover prevents it from being worn off. I found this easy to do, but I am one of those diy guys, just take your time, keep everything clean.

Over here in Germany, some dealers sell the complete battery replacement kit for 50 Euro, which is about $55,. XP charges the same for a replacement. To me it makes no sense risking to mess up a $400 coil with a box cutter while changing the battery. My Deus was bought last year so I don't have to worry about a replacement for a few years.
