Coil cable splice

Hi All, I have a spare 7" coil that I acquired (used ) that someone removed a few inches of cable to "shorten" it.They did the removal from practically right at the coil, leaving hardly any cable whatsoever for future maint, to the splice. The machine is a "hardwired"machine and I suppose no thought was given to taking the extra cable from the machine end and placing a plug on it. The coil seems to work ok, but of course has no shielding on it other than some heat shrink and tape. I was wondering if it is possible to replace the old cable with new. It is a Tesoro coil/machine and has been back to Tesoro and I fully understand why they choose not to fix it. Most likely because it is not "fixable". I can use it as is but would really like to get it back in shape if possible. Thanks . Charlie
