Coil calibration question

Been reading a lot on different forums and I've got a question, kind of technical too. And this is in relation to a particular brand, Fisher, mainly because I use the F75 LTD. What does it mean for the calibration to be off on a coil? I'd like to know a little more about this subject if someone would like to comment.
