Coil change

New member
I have been using the Mine lab Explorer II for about two years now and was curious if anyone was aware of whether you can change the coil out to one that could be used in water?

Are you sure you cant use th coil in water? You can just dont lift the coil up above the mid level as water goes up the hollow interior of the rod and follows the wire into the housing...opps...very expensive. but coil is deffinetly submersable...at least it was for me.

if 1000 or 1050 not cracked you can use underwater for 100 years,.. coil lifting up from the water? water will not go like stream in to control panel because its with some sort rubber seal witch holds coil connection and you will have few seconds to putted down! but 1050 coil connections is not sealed, very easy for water go inside and making falsing signals and not properly working detector until you will dry connections. good luck Stasys

I hunt the beaches and fresh water all the time and there isnt a problem with the coil.... its all those other components you have to watch out for. ANYTIME you use your detector around salt water ensure you wipe it down and us a cover of some sort over the box. I even put a sticker over my speaker. Im with Utah on NOT raising that coil about the box on any machine that isnt a water machine. Also the coils like to float.
