Is it necessary to do a factory reset when changing coils on the Multi Kruzer?

Not only would it be a total waste of time, but it would create additional time wasted.

If you change search coils and turn your detector back on, all you have to do is Ground Balance and start hunting.

If you do a factory reset it will erase all of your saved settings and take you right back to the factory default settings, therefore you would have to spend a lot of time to reprogram all your personal settings for each mode.
