coil compatibility -- F70 and Omega 8000?

F70-F75 coils will really work on the Omega? I've never heard this before. If the small 6.5" coil will work on the Omega then I'll buy one tomorrow.

Steve: Just this minute I was going to tell about a very nice discovery. I have a Gold Bug SE-Omega 8000, Delta 4000 & an F70. Swapping coils back and forth between the F70 and the Greek coils. On" my "detectors they all work perfect.I am not saying they will work on every detector, They sure work good on mine. I put the 5"DD coil on the F70. Works very good. Put the F70 3 X 6 coil on the Omega. I may just leave it there. Works so well. I am going to get the 11" DD for the Gold Bug. Then I will really be set for a selection of coils......Jack

Thanks for the info, jackintexas, that's good to know. And your last sentence (nice selection of coils, AND a nice selection of machines) is what I was thinking, too. I know Fisher says you should not BUY a coil for one detector for use on another, but they also said it couldn't "hurt" the detector in any way; if the performance appears to be similar, and you own several coils and different machines, then why not? If performance does not suffer, then it's one way to have several machines, and a nice selection of coils.

Bart --

Thanks for offering to do that. I will be very interested to see what you find out, also. Let me know if you note any performance differences...

Steve,
10" 8000 coil seemed to air test ok indoors on the F75 LTD. Maybe a bit noisier than normal.

Hmm...interesting confirmation, Bart.

The 10" elliptical coils are normally a bit noisier than DD's though, right? So, that might not be unusual...I know my 5" DD is MUCH quieter than my stock 10"...

If your air test seemed OK (other than maybe a bit more noise), then that seems like confirmation to me that they work...

You don't happen to have a "Greek series" DD coil that you could try out, do you?

Steve

Since the F5 uses the same coils as the Greek series and the Gold Bug ,then the F70 and F75 are compatible also? Makes sense from a manufacturing stand point.Very informative posts on this subject.
