12.5excelerator coil(from kellco) vs suyray 12.5 (for explorer)anyone used these and have a comment? weight? deepth? whitch one works better,..and why? or are they about the same, THANKS FOR ANY IMFO!!!!!

I have owned excellerators and sunray coils but never the ones that you want feedback on. I had the 5 incher from both companies and the 8 incher from sunray as well. As companies that produce coils, I would say both are top notch.
If I were to give you any usable feedback, it would be two things.
First, sunray's customer service is worth its weight in gold. I lost a screw on the coil connector once and Ray sent me one priority!
Secondly, the sunrays look way better than the excellerators. I know, thats pretty shallow but to some people( <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin"> ) it matters.
Good luck on your search for a new coil and I hope that helps.

Steve I have never used the KellyCo Coil. But I have used the 12.5 Sunray. I still have the Sunray, it is a very good coil for large open areas, and with the closed coil cover is great in farm fields.
Depth is on a par with the Stock 10.5 if not just a tad deeper. Pinpoint is no brainer and the weight and balance is better than the stock set up.
Attention to detail and customer service is the best in the business with Ralph at Sunray.
The Sunray 8" Stealth is my primary coil. I can only vouch for what I have used so that's my 2 zinc's worth. Hope this helps.

Steve,
I have both. The new Excelerator 12.5 has been reworked and its better then ever. They both pinpoint excelllent. Some of the older Sunrays used a connector plug which was made in Japan and it wouldn't even fit in the Sunray X1 probe. I believe they have since corrected that problem. In my test garden the Excelerator beats the Sunray for depth. I just got back from detecting today and used the Excelerator for 4 hours. It runs stable gives good depth and pinpoints well. The newer style excelerator has been reworked and its now a shiny white and you can see the epoxy filling on the bottom of the coil like most other coils. A cover is suggested if you decide to get one. Hope this helps.
