coil hardwar and questions...

I have 3 coils that have broken hardware. Really now they are missing since the plastic/nylon bolts broke and I took them out of another unit i had.
My question is where do I get decent replacements ?
I also have a coil that I think is a 7" white coil that is quite yellow andbloated looking. Wondering if I should send it in for a look at ?

The nylon bolts at Lowes are in the pull out bin.Ask a clerk, they are in there.Perhaps the coil got some hot temps exposed to it,and the plastic stretched.Water trapped inside, causing boating. If the coil does not work i would send it in. :-D If you call Tesoro they will send you some bolts,or leave a note in the box with coil to send bolts.

I've used nylon bolts the same size as the earlier, smaller hole coils use with no problems so far, but if in doubt it's easy to drill the holes in the ears to the next size larger and go that route which I think matches the size of the later bolts and coils.

I've gotten brass hardware but i can find no nylon hardware at lowes. not sure why.
i'm down to needing hardware for a clean sweep but Cannot find either 10-24 x 1.5 for it unless I drill the holes out to 1/4"

I would not drill them.Coils can get week.I had no problem at Lowes with the nylon bolts.Maybe they stopped.I am just the opposite i guess.I would not drill it,I would find some nylon bolts.Sure you can use a metal bolt because most detectors are motion based. You could not use a metal bolt on a outlaw because it has no motion.

Spirit - I was suggesting drilling the OLD smaller coil mounting holes, the ones that originally used the small, stainless steel bolt. The newer holes are larger right from the factory and use a slightly larger diameter screw, but not so large as to seriously weaken the mount.

Yeah, three years ago i bought a 5.75,and it had the small hole.It was suggested to drill the hole, which makes sense.I found the nylon bolts at Lowes that fit perfectly and went with that. :-D

The other fly in the ointment concerning the older smaller holes versus the newer slightly larger holes comes when you need to mount one on a lower pole that doesn't match.
