Coil help for 705

kirklyn

Member
I have the stock 9" 7.5khz and the 5x10 18.75khz
I am looking to get deeper silver in overworked sights and I also hunt at older home/park sights with a lot of trash.
The more I read about coils for the xterra the more confused on what to buy I become so what are your go to coils for these
types of hunting. I would love minelab to make a 10.5 3khz because I feel the 15" is just way to big
for my liking.

Unless your positive the silver is deep, I would consider the 6", 7.5khz minelab coil. You get good seperation because of its size and decent depth.
I didnt care for the 6", 3khz coiltek coil and think the 7.5khz is a really good freq for depth and silver. The 10.5 , 7.5khz is a deep coil and dont forget you can turn down the sensitivity on those trashier areas with all the coils

I have always been happy with the stock 7.5knz coil performance but think I would benefit from a DD in certain areas.
The 10.5 7.5khz seems like a good alternative to the stock coil. Just curious why you didn't care for the 6" 3khz coil.

I didnt see any difference in response to coins versus the 7.5khz coils, or any better in iron. The widescan design is the good part of that coil but at 6" its a small footprint anyways. I think the 6", 7.5khz coil I have does as good or better and depth is a little better on coins.
The hi freq coil really helps with small jewelry so if you do tot lots or beaches get one of those.

Thanks Neil
I know this subject gets beat to death and I have read every post
and subject on here. I kinda had an idea of what coiI I was going to buy I was just looking for a little nudge
if you know what I mean. I ordered the 10.5 7.5khz. Still up in the air on a 6"

My take on 3kHz coils is quite different from Neil's. I've found them to be superior on coins, especially where iron is the predominant trash component.

Where in the mitten are you? If you're near enough, you could check out my 3kHz coils before gambling on other coils. I have all three (6" DD, 9" CC, & 15" DD).

I am in genesee county just east of flint. Thank you for the offer maybe one day
we can find somewhere in the middle (shiawasee county) and meet up.
I've read all the posts on the 6" coiltek and find most love it. Although I primarily
want the old silver my only concern is missing the more elusive gold targets but everything
has it's trade off.
Thanks again

For what it is worth, I got a 9" concentric 3 KHZ from a member on this board, and I have found more silver lately. Could be a coincidence, but who knows.
