Coil question for 2500gti

TXPIRATE

New member
I have the Gti 2500 bought it a couple weeks ago has the stock imaging coil. plus the sniper coil. Looking for more depth on the beach should I go with the 12.5 imaging or the 10x14 power dd. Mainly the texas coast.

The 12.5 imaging coil is pretty cool. I use it sometimes. That imaging feature is neat. However, on the beach I almost always use the double D coils. They seem to handle the salt/mineralization better. They ground balance more easily=more depth. I usually use the 5"x10", but sometimes I'll use that 10"x14" for more depth. So, to answer your question I would go for the 10"x14". Best of luck to ya'. Don't hesitate to ask for any advice. That GTI 2500 is a beautiful creation. Great machine! Happy Hunting!:detecting:

The 12.5 inch coil works well in dry sand or wet fresh water. It also covers a lot more area per swing then the stock coil. If your beach has lots of mineralization in it or wet salt, then the 10 x 14 DD coil will perform better. If your GTI 2500 was built in the last 3 years, it has the most recent chip in it to get you better performance in mineralized soil.

If in an area of low mineralization the 12.5 will work fine and discriminates much better than the DD and DD's love bottlecaps. I have a field test on the 10x14 over at losttreasure.com.

Forgot to ask, do these beaches contain any black sand? And will you be hunting dry sand only or wet and dry. If any of these apply the DD would be the better choice.
