Coil question for Dave J

Frank-S

New member
Dave, you made a fue coils.question
If you get time
how do you tell what coil is the inside small coil in a VLF coil by checking
the induction at the coil connector, concentric coil
Thanks.

In the case of a concentric searchcoil, the receiver coil will be the inside coil. Its inductance and resistance will usually be from 4 to 20 times as great as that of the transmitter (outside winding); however some designs esp. among older machines use receivers that have inductance about the same as that of the transmitter.

Thanks Dave,
I had it back-wards.the coil that i was working on at coil connector it read
.90 mh and 6.39 mh.
I asumed that 6.39mh was out-side larger coil, all the coils that i made worked
but i did not get the dept that I wonted. Thanks again
Frank.
