Coil question?

Allan

New member
As with the Teknetic coils, mainly the stock coil, why do many look as if the heel was removed and glued back on with black resin?

I don't notice this with other coils, but many of these look like the heel was glued on, and others not? Are the ones with the black resin repaired ones? The heel of the coil I'm talking about is right where the Teknetics name is. Why are some sealed on and many others of the same coil do not have this glue and look normal? thanks

I'm not positive but it just be the way some look. Normal companys that follow ISO rules only have to worry about spec's and little about the exterior appearance as long as it's not cracked or marked up, that of course would be rejected. It has little to do with the performance or even where it was made cause ISO is a worldwide standard. HH, Woodstock

I think he's referring to the seams. But I don't know if the glued or electronically welded. That can make them look different, some seams could be welded more or less depending on the tightness of the seams before welding or gluing. I noticed this on all the Tek coils and F series Fishers and it's just cosmetic. HH, Woodstock

Here's one that has the black resin seam around the Teknetics heel, I'm guessing these ones were repaired with a new cord? As the majority of them do not have this seam. Thanks

I wouldn't be concerned. My Omega 11" DD and two 10" stock concentric coils have that sealing also. Its the way they mfg their coils. Btw, these are brand new coils. My T2 stock coil was also mfg that way.
