Does using a larger coil...ie, 13" Detech Ultimate versus my normal 4x6 or 6x10 cause the battery to run down quicker? I am using a V3i. Typically here in West Texas, I will go search for a couple hours or maybe 3 hours and go home. Then the next day, I can go again for the same length of time and sometimes even a third day with the same battery. There is so much trash on the vacant lots that we hunt that the typical settings are 6/55/75. I tried out a friend's 13" detech the other day and I still had 10 volts when I started, but after about 1-1/2 hours, the battery went down. I had backup batteries of course, but still, it seemed like the larger coil drained my battery quicker. Logic tells me that the transmit signal is going thru a lot larger coil of wires along with the receive signal, so logically it would cause quicker drain. Just wanted to get the "experts" opinions. Thanks.
