Coil size comparison graphic

New member
I don't know if anyone else will find this useful but here goes. I was having a very hard time visualizing the relative difference in size of the coils that I have been researching.
SO, I sat down at my trusty CAD station and came up with the enclosed picture so that I would have a better idea of what I was after. It helped me to be able to see all of them "stacked up" so to speak.
I don't know how the picture will appear when posted due to file size restrictions, so if you are interested drop me a line and I can email you the full sized file.

No, not depth. The graphic is simply a way for newbies like me to see the dimensional differences between different coils.
Mainly I am looking for a coil with better seperation but equal or greater ground covering capability to the stock 10". It has been a toss up between the 4.5x7", the Joey and the Platypus.
Once I started modeling the four that I mentioned above I just kept going to show the difference in several coils that I have looked into.

I would be happy to. The only problem is that I don't have most of these coils to do the testing. I have been told by a very knowledgeable former Minelab employee that for the most part the depth difference between the Minelab 800 and the Minelab 10.5 inch coils is about 30%. However, to the best of my knowledge, this is not set in stone and can be affected by many different things.
If someone has the data, I can make the graphic to scale and accurate to +/- 0.00000397". Alternately any of you dealers or manufacturers lurking in the wings can send me the coils for evaluation and I will gladly report my findings.

Thanks John. Fixed it this morning.
