Hey everyone! Well I've had my CZ-3D for a whole great season of metal detecting. I've got my Gray Ghosts N.D.T.I've got my FZ-1 probe,{love them}. Now I need to get a larger coil! Question, what are my options? Do I go with the 10.5" coil. What other sizes are there. If there is one larger than that is it really worth going larger? Will I gain more depth? Early this spring theres this bean field that use to be part of an old town! I figure thats were to go{with permision} not having to worry about tearing up someones lawn. A larger coil will help me cover more erea in the same time, Not much trash there perfect place for a larger coil. stay warm this season will be over soon <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> thanks ronboy44

10.5 made for the CZ offers a little more depth, but its coverage is super...Must be the way its made as its a hybrid type and not completely round..It is heavy, but many hipmount to alleviate the extra weight..Not familiar with any off brand bigger coils, but swinging trash can lids around is not my style and get great depth with the stock 8...

I have owned a CZ for about 36 hours, LOL! Only have about 40 minutes of hunting with it and I used the 10.5" coil. It is a little on the heavy side and will take some time to learn pinpointing due to it's size and quality. I will probably buy a pinpointing probe to use with it. I think this is probably the optimal large size coil, and like Dan said, swinging a trash can lid around just wouldn't be any fun. HH, Mike in Germany

Due to its configuration it pinpoints just to the top of dead center...

Glad you like the FZ-1 probe. The FZ-12 12.5" Sun Ray coil is also an option. You can check it out on our website link below. I don't know of any accessory coils for the CZ that would be like swinging a trash can lid. The FZ-12 certainly does not fit that description. If you have questions give me a call or send me an e-mail. Thank you.
Ralph (Sun Ray)

Its only the bigger coil on the cz that is the 10-1/2 or probably the 12 incher you offer that certain people call trash can lids.
I have not seen the term used on the stock 10 inch coils for minelabs called that though.
Makes you wonder sometimes about the terminology you might hear from time to time.
Hocky pucks are normally also a cz term for a small coil.
Wonder where that came from. I guess its a hobby thing.

Some of my friends say to get a extra end shaft for my CZ-3D and put the new coil on it. Faster to change from the 8" to 10.5 or 12.5. Is the 12.5 a spider coil? thanks Ralph,Dan,Mike, and Dan-Pa, you to dirtdog. ronboy44
