Coil Theory

Eric.Sometime ago you promised another coil post.Would you mind reiterating on your rectangular coil theory? Can we demonstrate that a rectangular coil is superior in depth or S/N ratio to a round coil of the same area?Wishing you all well Jim S.

Yes, I'm also waiting for this post. Eric, could you please include some advice about screening?!
My problem is, if I use any metal foil, it would give a signal. The same with wound and soldered wire, as far as it would give small shorted loops round the main coil windings.
I find it great from you sharing your experiance and your time with us, much more as every answer multiplies the questions. Thank you!

one more question concerning DD-coils - can somebody give me a figure, at wich % area overlap they achieve balance?
Thanks!

It is best to set the overlap experimentally, since it is very sensitive to coils mismatches.

I'm working on the rough construction now, so it would be good if I have to do less changes starting the experimental tuning (circuit is not ready).
