Coils....

I'm wondering if there's some sort of "evolution" happening with the newer digital Fishers... First, the Coinstrike... , 10.5, "proprietary" frequency. Next, the Excel then the Edge... all slightly different frequencies. Usually, detector companies release "lines or series" of detectors. (like the CZ series, white's dfx/mxt/xlt, etc.). This allows for use of options and extras like coils, probes, etc. So, on with my question... Do you think Fisher is going to "settle" into a particular frequency to allow for coil swapping? just looking for thoughts or educated (or uneducated) :) guesses....

A guess I have. Maybe Fisher doesn't want other companies making coils for their machines. Maybe a fear of after market coils damaging a detector with a life time warranty. Sounds reasonable to me.
