coin hunt turns up relic

hunting an old yard this afternoon, lot of new coins but nothing old. I got to the side of the yard and pulled up a nice musket ball. The house is only half a block from a park where I have found some mini and musket balls. The ball on the left is the one I found this evening. The others came from the park. I got a little excited when I saw it hoping to find some more but it was the only one. I will go back, it`s a pretty big yard and I only had a short time to look. It locked on a solid 30 with the 705/digger

I'm luck if I find one of those a year and I'm pretty happy when I do..

Last year on national metal detecting day they had a big deal in Carthage, Mo. there were a lot of people detecting the parks and several good finds were made. The way it was advertised a lot of the people who came thought they had never been hunted but it in fact they`ve been hunted for years . 3 of the three ringers came from around one tree...when I picked up the musket ball I looked back into the park and did a little visual of what might have been happening there in 1861...just another reason I like metal detecting, to find something old from days gone by, not really worth much but still a treasure to me
