Coincidental finds

Sanderling

Member
The earring on the left was found six months ago and the one on the right, part of it anyway, was found about a week ago basically in the same area of the beach. I was wondering if anyone else has recovered similar items that got separated then were reunited?

Recovered a brass die that was a good 3/4in on a side near the entrance of a community center once. Then about 80 yards away, across the street and within 15 yds of the front door of the public library I found the other one over a year later.

Interesting KinTN. Makes me wonder what caused them to be so separated. Mind boggling to think what is out there still to be found.

I'm thinking that some kid lost one and then threw the other one away or something.
Still have no idea what a pair of dice like that was used for. Heavy suckers.

You have pics of them? Some sort of promotional device? Being brass they are unique. Maybe they were used at the Community Center for some sort of game. Anyway I have yet to find something like that. Although not coincidental, what do you consider your most unusual find? That one was pretty unusual. I once found a pack of cigarettes, at least what was a pack, about 5" down at the beach. Guess the foil set my Safari off. Keep hunt'n KinTn. Every dig has the possibility of a cool find. That what makes MD'ing so much fun.

I'm away from home at the moment but will dig them up and post a pic when I get back.

You are right about this Sport being strange and fun! Your posts reminds me of one hunt in the Spring several years ago...I found a silver ring in a totlot, and about 3hrs and several miles away I found an identical one at the edge of a parking lot...they were not just plain silver rings either, each had a little row of CZ's... identical in size and looks...

Finding any lone ring or earring is hard enough, to find a matching pair several days or miles apart is strange and makes a guy wonder....I've found many pairs of earrings, but they were together right in the same area and on the same day..once a guy hits one, the other matching signal becomes a focus for a 10' circle..anyway, cool find and post Sanderling!:clapping:
Mud.

Thanks mudpuppy. That is quite a story, almost bizarre, finding those identical rings like that. Thanks for the post.

The first silver ring that I ever found was a plain mens wedding type band. About 2 years later I was rehunting for the 4th or 5th time in the same area and found a identical but smaller sized ring. I don't think that they were related to each other- other than being within about 20' of each other. Both were <5" deep and its hard for me to imagine that I missed that 2nd ring all those times. Just shows that its easy to miss coverage when swinging in arcs.

Was hunting house circa 1890 and in he front yard I found a silver cufflink circa 1930s. Then 3 feet away I found the matching one.Ended up giving them to the home owner.

Nice finds Dave. Good of you to present them to the homeowner. Did they mean anything to the owner? Hunting old home sites has got to be a lot of fun and I bet you have some good recoveries at these sites. Good hunting!

Here is a pic of the dice i referenced above attached to this post.
