coinstrike 525 setting.

i have had my coinstrike for about 3 weeks now and love it. i read that someone suggested bill ladds 525 setting until one gets to learn the machine really well. what is the 525 setting? i run my threshold at about -10, my sensitivity at 6 or 7 and discrimination at 50. are these settings ok. i mainly coinhunt at old homes or schools and the ground here is good. thanks for any help and happy hunting.

I would say if you are running it in those settings and things are working out for you, then keep em there. Those settings are actually higher and hotter than the 525. What 525 is....Sensitivity at 5, threshold at -25. I believe it also calls for iron discrim at 99.

So, you are running a higher sensitivity and a lower cut off point on the threshold in addition to having less iron discrim.

I always try to run my C$ at the highest setting possible while still being stable. I can tell my the way targets ID and how the numbers are reacting, in addition to the amount of falsing. If I can run at sensitivity 9 and threshold -5... I will. Most times, where I hunt, I can't get into the positive threshold due to it being near a ball field and high power lines. But the dirt is mild so the C$ works well at settings above 525.

Your settings are very close to mine except for the iron disc. I try to run the threshold as close to 0 as possible, but 0 is next to impossible and I find a -5 threshold is where my C$ is close to perfect. I can hunt just aabout anywhere with the sens at 7, but there are several places where I drop it 6. The last two times I used the C$, I got several coins in the 8 to 9 inch deep range with these settings. Bill's 525 settings make the detector very stable and useable just about anywhere. Starting with the 525 setting lets the new user get use to the tones and numbers with very little erratic behavior. If you are having luck with your settings, stay with them. R.L.
