Got up this morning and could barely walk. Then looked at the temp..... it was 4 degrees. Soooo it looked like one of those day to go metal detecting.
I only managed a couple of hours not because of the cold but i just couldnt bend over any more to dig i was in such pain. I dont care how many cloths you put on in 4 degree weather you fingers and toes get VERY cold. Digging wasnt bad where the leaves were..... but under trees where it was bare.... forgetaboutit. I was glad i made that digger so i could put a foot because id never made it trying to push anything in that ground, not only because of my back, but because it was packed and as hard as a rock 3 inches down. I manages 2 silver dimes, 3 wheats, an 1895 IH, some sort of a gold plated good luck penny i thank. Neal.... got me another 58 cal 3 ringer and that other LARGE round of some sort. Not a bad day even thou i did almost have to craw back to the truck and take pain killer when i got home. Whose the MAN????

Now that's a dedicated detectorist who braves going out in 4 degree temperatures. You are definitely the man Dew.
Just goes to show that if a man wants to venture out in miserable conditions the finds are there to be had and don't forget to have those pain pills at home waiting for you.

One of the benefits of living in S. Cal is I don't have a "down" season. But I am very familiar with detecting in sticky mud conditions...no fun for sure...My detecting shoes always stay in the car...I don't let them get close to the inside of my condo....
