The ground was still frozen here in Northern Indiana but it was 29 degrees and the sun was out. Cabin fever has been setting in, well actually it set in 3 months ago. Not much in the way of finds for my first 05 hunt, but I started it with a ring !
I was using the new 8" Concentric coil on the Explorer 2, at an old Girl Scout Camp and the first find was a small silver ring at 4 inches in Frozen dirt. I also found 7 wheaties which ranged from depths of 4 to 6 inches. The small medal was at 5 inches. The Concentric performed well in the Frozen ground and I guess I did too as my A$$ was freezing after an hour. These grounds were littered with pull tabs and old screw caps. I ended up running my old coins program to get around all the noise. That small medal sneaked in under an Indian Head Penny. Its possible I would of passed that one if running in a wide open program. Just wanted to let all know the concentric is holding it's own and has been doing a great job of seperating and pinpointing. I would also like to mention that you can use the standard Minelab bolt on this coil as I've had a few guys emailing me with this question. I can't wait for 40 degree temps!!
