Coming back to a F70 looking for some good coin settings:

welcome back i would stick with the stock settings until you get used to it you might need to turn the sense down if you get close to powerlines or other emi, i prefer 4 or 4h tones for coin hunting most gold will read in the low 20s or higher so set your disc below 20 and you wont miss any gold learn how to do a factory reset if you get the settings messed up. im sure you will get all the help you need here good luck

I keep my discrimination set low, like about 4, so I will hear the iron content right away if it is present. The F70 is a very spirited unit and will show some high tones usually if the iron is rusty. If iron is not notched out many times you will get that low iron grunt or fart to expose that tone that sounded somewhat high and non re-occurring before. Most of us here who run the 70 will hunt mostly by the audio sounds. If signal tone are repeatable in 2 directions and clean sounding a VID # can fine tune your opinion if it's not jumping more than 2 or 3 numbers. If there is lots of trash, don't be afraid to lower your sensitivity if need be. I once hit a silver mercury dime at 5" with a sensitivity of 35 and threshold setting of -3 right after a rain in our sandy soil. There are F70 swingers here that are more than willing to help you get on the right path. My settings on a new site usually start at 4 disc. 50 sensitivity and 0 threshold and either 4h or delta pitch tones. If it is clean I will turn up the sensitivity or slip to the slo mode rather than default. Hope this helps--------IB

Thanks IB I am coming from a F75LTD as my buddy wanted more options to play with so I traded with him. I also use a E-Trac, CZ3D, Deus and a few others. Just love detectors and retired.

It should be pretty easy to interpret what the F70 is saying if you have experience with the F75. Seems all the F series detectors have language that relates quite well. Nice,,,,,,,,,,,,since those coils you both have will interchange and should save you both a little money.

Yeah, what IB said!...Frank, you are going to have no problem mastering the 70...I will be curious to see what you think about it stacked up against the Deus...from what I've seen, thats one quick broom too! Matter of fact, you have some great experience on several high end deep silver rigs...this may get interesting!:clapping:

Trouble with all these detectors is deciding which ones to take on these one shot hunts, so I end up taking 3 or 4 as I do not know the hunt conditions till I get there. The other day used the CZ3D and E-trac had not used them for awhile. No silver but two 1800s Indians. The home owner had detected it already but missed the deep ones buried in roots. It's all fun especially these 200 hundred year old places to hunt.
