Well Folks, Garrett has gone and done it again. First is was the Garrett Ace 250, that stormed the world, and now it's the Garrett ATpro! It's 'Waterproof' to 10' so you can use it anywhere! This 'New' detector will sell world wide just as its predecessor has done. I predict it will be the most widely used detector by experienced MD'ers as well as those new to the hobby of metal detecting for years to come. I love my Minelab but this new machine is going to send all the other companies back to the drawing board.

how it's greatly different from many others ? So often we get this new machine hype on the market. Think back at all the wonder machines of the past. I don't study these machines so don't know much about them. thanks, steve in so az

All I can say, the White's Spectrum XLT was far better than the old Coinmasters and my hipmount (but I wore it on my chest) is much lighter than the handheld ones! Looks like the Etrac may be a great machine, but don't know as I have never owned a Minelab or any other brand but Whites! I can't go :detecting: any more or not very often so any newer machine wouldn't do me any good unless I could use it! ;) :) The more familiar we are with any machine the better off anyone will be, for then the tricks of that certain one will come to be known! :heh: May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Garrett came out with another 'AT' all-in-one machine many years back but it leaked badly, so it was taken off the market. I'm sure, with modern technology, they've got it right this time. The beauty of this detector is its ability to be used in wet environments and waterproof to ten (10'). Being that it list for $600+, that puts it in the 'Affordable' category, which is a + as well. For those who cannot afford the detectors from the Minelab stable, such as the Explorer, this detector will allow hunters to do-it-all, within the capabilities of the detector of course. Only time will tell if this unit is up to the task detectorist will subject it to but I think it's got a good chance of succeeding. I wish my Minelab Safari had been waterproof to 10' from day one but, as good as it is, Minelab hasn't seen fit to give us that capability yet. Maybe someday? There's been many good machines, by various manufacturers, brought to market but NONE of them have been waterproof. MaBetty's White XLT is a good detector but has a long learning curve to master its capabilities and, if there's one thing Garrett is known for, it's simplistics in opporation and user friendliness.
