Compadre can't stop finding me the neat stuff!

REVIER

Well-known member
Still in Bama, had to deal with a funeral and family issues all week, but me and the Compadre still had a 3 hour window to spend some time together on Sunday and we found a little silver earring...my first silver for the year.
That would have been just fine and would have satisfied my one cool thing goal I set for myself every time I hunt out of town but this morning I found something even cooler.
Had a few more hours free this morning before everyone got up so back to the same old park, I hit an area I have been to before and found a few Indians in the past, but then I wandered over to another small part of this park across the street and near some houses.
I think this was actually used as a small park for the neighborhood way before the big part of the park was developed.
Found a little trash here, some modern can slaw, and brass pipe fitting and other junk and then I came across an old WMRogers butter knife.
Not silver but very old so I was on the right track.
A few modern coins, some more trash and then I got a high tone.
Dug the hole and a few inches down I see something silvery, round and large and immediately think this is one of those big wide mouth bottle caps.
I pull it out all covered with dirt, turn it over and see the face of a pocket watch with one of the hands still attached!
I have found a few watches before but never with any of the hands so cool!
The winder and ring dare still attached too.
Not gold or even silver, it cleaned off easily but at the most this is silver plated because I can see rust and parts where the silver rubbed off but I don't care, it is old and cool and neat and a wonderful addition to my collection.

One trip, one Compadre, two cool things to bring home...mission accomplished!

I am so sorry for your families loss Revier. I am also happy for your treasure find.-----------IB

Great finds and nothing like metal detecting to help soothe the aches and pains of everyday life. My condolences.

Sorry for your loss.
