Compadre Questions

The Brown Truck came about 4:00 and brought my Compadre.
I went to the tot lot across the street to test it and found a pull tab my first target.
But after that I got targets but when I dug there was nothing there.
So am I not pinpointing right or is it a false signal?
My second question is when I put my coil on it is floppy. If I lift the coil off the ground to flops into a vertical position and flops a little when I was on uneven ground. Is that the way its supposed to be?

Uh, no. Did you tighten the coil bolts? Also, turn the discrimination to at least the "r" in "iron" to avoid picking up nails, and other iron. Also, did you wrap the coil wire around the detector shaft-not too tight-just compactly? Did you read the assembly instructions-the first part of the manual?

I have them tightened as tight as I can get them. Even did a few turns with pliers

If the Coil is installed correctly with the rubber washers it should be snug and adjustable. Be careful and not over tighten.

Don't use pliers on the nuts. Your lower shaft where the coil hooks onto should have 2 round rubber washers that fit into the lower shaft where your coil will go. Only tighten with your fingers. That should do the trick. ... KEN

If the rubber washers are installed correctly, a very light hand tightening is more than sufficient to keep the coil from flopping around.

You've done something wrong when you put it together.

If you over tighten the screw you will break the ears off. Don't do another thing until you read the manual.

Ouch! Easy! It should have been firm with just a finger-tight turn. Maybe forgot the washers? This just doesn't sound right at all.

Rubber washers on the inside not the outside of those ears, and then slowly work that coil into place to line it up with the holes..
Do this right and hand tight on the nuts is all you will need.

I think you have the washers on wrong. like revier said , they go on the inside. That should also correct the false signals. Its a motion detector and the coil flopping around will pick up the cables making it sound off.
