CONCENTRIC COIL ADVICE

Can slaw

New member
Hi guys I bought an AT Pro a couple of months ago and love it for the clad hunting here in Canada. There is a local ball diamond that is littered with bottle caps. Every swing it finds 3 or 4 caps. I would like to buy a concentric coil but not sure if the 6.5x9 or 9x12 coil is better suited for Canadian Clad and identifying bottle caps. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Either the 6.5x9 or 9x12 coil will give better ID for caps then DD coils. Your decision should be based on how many targets there are in any given area. If there are too many, go with the smaller coil. The larger coil will give more depth and cover a larger area, but depth is not very significant when clad hunting.

Thank you John for the advise. I think ill go with the 9x12 just because it will cover a little more ground. A question about the bottle caps. With the DD coil bottle caps ring in around 70-80 what does the concentric coil generally read?

The concentric coils will bounce around the 70's and possibly 80's, however, you will notice they will also bounce to the lower 60's, which is the key. Also, use the iron check. If you have a silver or copper target under the coil, the iron audio check will verify it for you.
