Conductivity of gold?

MEV

New member
which metal has the same or almost the same conductivity as gold natural gold ( nugget)

im asking you this becasue i would like to make tests with my x terra 705 , and last week i went to the desert and a man told me that before i went prospecting i need a gold nugget to practice with my metal detector. So i dont have a gold nugget so i was wondering if theres a metal that has the same conductivity as a gold nugget.

Thanks

PD: I cant see my last post Why????

I agree lead is close. I went to a metal detecting store in Yuma AZ got a business card with a small nugget for a price. Thats what I use

Hi Mev, As advised Lead is very close, a small shotgun pellet in a plastic bag is ideal, but don't be fooled into relying on that test dig everything on a goldfield.

A Nev. prospector that I used to be in contact with, who initially started out using the XT-70 with the 6" DD HF coil for hunting gold nuggets in the Nev. desert. Said most of the small nuggets he was finding with it would read between 22 and 26 on the XT-70. Nuggets with impurities (often copper or silver) will naturally read differently.

yes lead must be close they where to hung if found in the act of alchemy so it must be close, and yes gold will read all over the place depending on size and purity good thing with VLF machines is the iron disc which can be a big help if hunting old camp sites etc..

My .4 gram gold test nugget comes in at +2 +4 with the 6" HF coil.

Sometimes -2 -4 depending on the ground.

About the same with the other coils but less depth and numbers jump around more.

Good Hunting
