When I found This I didn't believe It was real because it was so Light??

But I brought the silver dollar out today cause my wife bought a book on old coins.
Well - when you hit the two silver dollars together it sounds dead or hollow.
So my wife looked up hollowed coins via the net.

My next Question is - How do I clean it and how should I go about trying to open it???

Looks like a hollowed out silver dollar that I once had as part of a "magic trick" that I performed when I was younger and much more silly. My Son used to enjoy watching me perform magic for him when he was in his pre-teen years. I would be curious to know if I was right when you finally get it open.

To clean it, use a solution of 1 part water and 2 parts TARN-X.
To open it, You have to put the coin in between both of the palms of your hands and twist. Could be clockwise....may be counter clock-wise depending how the coin was machined. If after cleaning, it is still stuck, then give it a slight warming with hot water then try the palm twist again. Best of Luck to you.

It's been in the water so long it's surely oxidized to the point it's welded together. There are even pin holes on the face which indicate it has decayed a bit.

I would pry it open.

She had been using a magnafying light and a needle - and got fed up
I heard something in the kitchen and she was dropping it on the kitchen floor
after the fourth time she yelled it's opened
But Guess what, natha - zilch - nothing was in side -
It seems to snap together tight
But when you push on the back on top of the eagles wing it pops open
It seems to work well now that she broke it loose.

That is the magic trick dollar, that I referred to. One would hide a quarter in side, and presto, change a dollar into a quarter, and vice-versa.

I've certainly never found one. But I've seen how they make them on the History channel. It actually takes two coins to make this coin you found. The first coin (heads) will be bored out on (tails) side
to fit another coin. They leave the rim alone.

The second coin (tails) will have rim or diameter shortened by necessary amount to fit inside the first coin, and then they just remove face of coin (heads).
The machine plains the coin down to precise measurements.
When they get done - they fit perfectly.

This applies to real coins. There may be a trick coin company
making something that does not require this process but the
mint is usually not very happy with any attempt to replicate
any US coin for obvious reasons. So it's probably real coins.
