went to old woods site ive hunted before had my new explorer se pro with me for first time at this site found my first connecticut copper 1885 or 86 i think hard to tell but profile seems to fit cant tell which varity it is also found old button my pics arn,t to good only got cheap web cam hunted in iron mask26 condutive tones 26 sensitivity auto still learning this puppy but liking it also used 10by12 sef coil trying lots of settings but mostly run bryces coin settings as taken from andys book but like to play around a bit just to learn this new detectors abilityies and mine

Great find, I agree with D, I wouldn't try to get it cleaner than that. Old coppers are not at all forgiving when it comes to being cleaned. Congrats.

Awesome find - congratulations - old coppers are amazing - too bad they get so chewed up in the ground after 225 years...

I found one of those CT coppers too - it was definitely a much better thrill than finding one of those KG large coppers that seem be more common here on Long Island where typically you'll find at least one for every farm field outing you do (the British occupied the area for about 8 years during the Revolutionary War).

However the really great part about finding one of those old coppers is that you've just dated the area and are now on "high alert" for the possibility of finding old silver like a reales or a draped/capped bust or maybe a cool button or token too...make sure you grid that location really well...good luck cleaning it all out!!
