Contacted minelab to see if they had a battery for the Minelab Relic hawk

This is what i got back from them.

Hello Jason we no longer repair the hawk series machine they are over 10 yrs old and we have no parts for these units.

Man that is customer service makes you think about buying a Minelab. Will not even work on there old detectors WOW!

You might have to go to an Interstate battery center if you have one in your area Jason. I think they are nationwide. Their ads on the radio said they can make up any kind of battery pack. If you are handy with a soldering gun, you could probably do it your self.

If they drop service after 10 years, the XS should be next...

Hi, It's probably too expensive for them to carry spare parts for more than 10 years. They may have sold off the remainder of those parts to a reseller. Also you can probably have a bad battery pack rebuilt by a company that does this. Does that unit have a pack that takes AA cells? I like these packs better than the rechargeable ones.

Have sent Minelab two replies to the email they sent me with my concern over this and have got no none zero nada single reply from them.

Guess this is how they do business now really sad to see a company that makes good detectors but now seems after the sale good luck.

I checked on getting my XS battery repaired, batteries plus said they would re-bulid it for $30, not bad since a new one cost 65-70

Nope it is a gel pack with the headphone jack built into it. So if any one has a spare let me know.

Thanks
Jason

Hi Jason, What exactly is a gel pack? Can it be opened and converted over to hold rechargeable AA cells? Have you tried looking on eBay? Also maybe Minelab will reveal the OEM of this pack, if there is one, and you might be able to purchase one from the source.

If you have a older minelab you are so out of luck. does not sound good. This to me is very poor customer support on there part. 99% of all other manufactures will repair there old detectors.
Do not have parts to fix the old detectors come on seems like if you want a minelab you will have to buy a new one if your breaks.
