Control Box Screw

I want to mount my control box but the screw seems rather large. Is it a self tapping screw and should it be hard to screw in. Does the screw that came with it fit perfect ?

I had the same problem just found a smaller one.

I never did put my screw in. The control box fit in nice an tight in the handle so I left it out and it does make it easier to remove the control box from the handle the few times I wanted to remove it.

Same here. Never saw a reason for it.

It's supposed to be very tight as your turning it in. Use a quality screw driver with the newest tip so you don't slip. I never used mine but deal with this type of mounting screw all the time with what seems to be too small of a hole for the screw to fit. It will seat very solid and be hard to stip unless you really reef on it. Slow and steady wins the race in this case.

I've never used mine.

I use a smaller screw I had in my pin and screw box.
I wouldnt dare to go without it since I often take my bike out and have the Xterra
in my hand. The gravel roads are shakey and I feel much more secure using that little screw.

So screw for me:)

Didn't put mine in. In someones genius, it looks like they gave us a wood screw or a sheet metal screw, neither of which is correct, therefore its a bear to try and get it screwed in. In that application they should have given us a self tapping screw. Hey if you got all of your parts, you did good. We have bought five 705s and almost every one was missing something, very poor out the door quality control IMO. Fortunately the reliability and function helps you to forget ... LOL
