Cool Little Find!

Made some time (short time) to get out and do some hunting this morning (Saturday morning). Found some pocket change, 2 wheaties, an old toy car, some JUNK, and this neat little thing! I figure it's a bottle opener in the shape of a hatchet. It's about 4 inches long and says DIXIE BEER CO on the handle (both sides). It was pretty rusty but I worked and worked on it and got it in good shape. Probably isn't worth much, but I still think it's a keeper! I looked up the Dixie Beer Co online and found that Dixie Beer was brewed by the Dixie Brewing Company, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The company opened in 1907 but was severely damaged and looted in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. It has been closed since that time, but the owners are hoping to re-open the brewery and to start brewing Dixie Beer once again.

if they get re-established contact their publicity people and I bet they would be interested in that item - maybe part of their own internal museum. Congrats on the find.

I think that is neat, kinda looks like an axe. I just posted a picture of one my finds on 7 keys no teeth. my first picture upload my wife did it for me.
I would like to find one of those like you found ,looks like a real collector.:clapping:

It is an advertising piece. You got a keeper there! :) Congrats!

I sure like it! Several years ago I found an advertising piece that reminds me a lot of this one. I don't have time right now, but will dig it out and get a pic to post as soon as I get a chance.
